The Gauged O ( 3 ) Sigma Model : Schrödinger Representation and Hamilton - Jacobi Formulation

چکیده

We first study a free particle on an (n − 1)-sphere in an extended phase space, where the originally second-class Hamiltonian and constraints are now in strong involution. This allows for a Schrödinger representation and a Hamilton-Jacobi formulation of the model. We thereby obtain the free particle energy spectrum corresponding to that of a rigid rotator. We extend these considerations to a modified version of the field theoretical O(3) nonlinear sigma model, and obtain the corresponding energy spectrum as well as BRST Lagrangian. Multi Hamilton-Jacobi quantization of O(3) nonlinear sigma model

The O(3) non-linear sigma model is investigated using multi Hamilton-Jacobi formalism. The integrability conditions are investigated and the results are in agreement with those obtained by Dirac’s method. By choosing an adequate extension of phase space we describe the transformed system by a set of three Hamilton-Jacobi equations and calculate the corresponding action. 1 On leave of absence fr...

Commuting Hamiltonians and Hamilton-Jacobi multi-time equations

Hamilton’s variation principle can be shown to correspond to Fermat’s Principle for a wave propagation in configuration space (q-space), and the Hamilton-Jacobi equation expresses Huygens’ Principle for this wave propagation. Unfortunately this powerful and momentous conception of Hamilton, is deprived, in most modern reproductions, of its beautiful raiment as a superfluous accessory, in favour...

The Equivalence Postulate of Quantum Mechanics

Implementation of the equivalence principle, stating that all physical systems can be connected by a coordinate transformation (trivializing map) to the free system with vanishing energy, uniquely leads to the quantum analogue of the Hamilton–Jacobi (HJ) equation. A property of the formalism is manifest p–q duality, a consequence of the involutive nature of the Legendre transformation and of th...

Critical generation of soliton mode in a gauged O ( 3 ) sigma model with interpolating potential

We show that a new soliton mode is generated in a gauged sigma model with interpolating potential when the interpolation parameter decreases below a critical value. 1 Recently a class of gauged O(3) sigma models in three dimensions have been studied [1–5] where a U(1) subgroup of the O(3) symmetry of the model was gauged by coupling the sigma model fields with a gauge field through the correspo...

This paper considers linear-quadratic control of a non-linear dynamical system subject to arbitrary cost. I show that for this class of stochastic control problems the non-linear Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation can be transformed into a linear equation. The transformation is similar to the transformation used to relate the classical Hamilton-Jacobi equation to the Schrödinger equation. As a re...
